Ondo State Ministry of Finance has solicited for the support and collaboration of the State House of Assembly for effective and efficient management of state resources.
Speaking while playing host to the House Committee Members of the House on Finance and Appropriation, the Commissioner, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa congratulated them for their election into the House of Assembly, stressing that their victory at the polls would attract positive development to their various Constituencies.
Mr Akinterinwa, who enumerated functions of the Ministry which according to him include, proper management of the state revenue and expenditure, deployment of funds to the priority of government and ensuring that other arms of government were not starving of funds.
The Commissioner who also explained that the Ministry is involved in crafting budget and ensuring that the priorities of the state are well captured and restated the commitment of the Ministry to ensuring that the State is kept afloat financially.
He explained that the Ministry has five departments which included Finance, Expenditure, State Finances, Debt Management Office and Accounts, adding that the Ministry also plays a supervisory role on Accountant General Office and Pool Betting.
Mr Akinterinwa used the occasion to thank and appreciate the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON for confidence reposed in him and giving him enabling environment to work.
He therefore, promised to continue to partner the House of Assembly in their activities with a view of taking the State to greater heights.
In his remarks, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi who appreciated the Commissioner and other Management staff of the Ministry for the warm reception given them, added that the reappointment of Commissioner to the Ministry was a welcome development, describing it as a round peg in a round hole.
Hon. Ogunmolasuyi, who described the Ministry as the engine room of government, commended the Ministry for putting in place necessary machineries that enable the State to generate more revenue through the Internal Revenue Service.
The Chairman also commended the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the timely implementation of various measures to cushion the effect of suffering being experienceda mo by the people as a result of the petroleum subsidy removal.
He therefore promised the cooperation of the State House Assembly to the Ministry in order to move the State forward.
In his own remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Prophet Jide Ekpobomini said the Ministry would not relent on its good work.
