Ondo By-Election Primary: ‘Warn Tunji Ojo, Betty Akeredolu, Against Imposition’, Akoko North Youths Beg Tinubu, Ganduje,others.

Ahead of Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency Primary election in Ondo state, Youth in the area have petitioned President Bola Tinubu, APC National Chairman,Abdulahi Ganduje and other Party Leaders on the alleged moves by the wife of the state governor, Mrs Betty Akeredolu and Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo to impose their own choices on the people.

In an open letter sent to President Tinubu and other APC Leaders, the Akoko Youth pointed out that Mrs Akeredolu’s favourite candidate,Mrs Abiye Janet Ademoyegun was ironically a card-carrying member of New Nigeria Peoples Party,( NNPP) who vigorously campaigned against APC candidates during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

They recalled that recently Mrs Akeredolu coerced APC Women Leaders in the state to write an open letter to the President, his wife, Oluremi and APC National Chairman, Ganduje, demanding a female candidate for the forth-coming House of Representatives election in Akoko Northeast/Northwest.

According to Akoko APC Youth,” We are shocked by the sudden love Mrs Akeredolu now have for Womenfolk when during the 2022 APC Primary Elections, more than 20 Women contesting for the National Assembly Primaries for both Senatorial and House of Representatives seat,but could not beg her husband to consider any one of the women when the governor was single handedly determined who got all the tickets”

Besides, the concerned APC Youth kicked against the reported endorsement of one Ifeoluwa Ehindero by the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo who they said is his cousin and from the same town,while threatening the constituents that the seat he vacated to become Minister would be occupied by Ehindero with his powerful connection in Abuja and that of the Chief of Staff, Hon.Femi Gbajabiamila.

The Akoko North Youth noted that a first class monarch in the area and Olukare of Ikare-Akoko and several indigenes had pleaded with the Minister to honour the gentleman agreement existing since a long time ago, but still adamant.

Also, they disclosed that a powerful delegation had also been sent to the Minister by the concerned Youth Forum to allow the rotational system, stressing that voters in  Hon Tunji-Ojo’s Oke-Agbe, Oyin/Oge wards are not up to seven percent of the total voters in Akoko North Federal Constituency.

They urged President Tinubu and other APC leaders to warn both the Minister, Tunji Ojo and Mrs Akeredolu on the need to guard against imposition of candidates in the forth coming primary election for the vacant seat of Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency.
