Akoko Northeast/Northwest Bye–Election Primary: Bail Us Out of Tunji Ojo’s Intimidation, Group Begs APC Leaders

Ahead of today’s Primary election for Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency Bye-Election, a group, Akoko Northeast Agenda has alerted the APC Stakeholders particularly its leaders at all levels on  the alarming situation unfolding in the community, particularly in relation to the upcoming Akoko North East/Akoko North West MHR primary election scheduled for today.

A statement issued by the concerned group,said ” it has come to our knowledge that Minister of Interior, Hon Bunmi Tunji Ojo, has allegedly instructed NSCDC officers and Police DPO in Akoko North East Local Government to intimidate and harass members of Akoko North East Agenda.

” Furthermore, we have reason to believe that the INEC Electoral Officer (EO) in Akoko North East Local Government has been induced by Hon Bunmi Tunji Ojo to manipulate the electoral process in his favor. The Minister appears to be adamant on imposing a candidate on us, disregarding our democratic right to choose our representative.

” in an attempt to assert his control, Hon Bunmi Tunji Ojo, through his aides Hon Mohammed Olawale, Hon Niyi Oseni and Hon Saliu Mumuni, have been alleged of reportedly submitted a manipulated list of delegates to the EO and provided a substantial sum of money to bribe the EO. These actions pose a severe threat to the integrity of our electoral system and undermine the principles of democracy.

” In light of these disturbing developments, we, the members of Akoko North East Agenda and Youths in Akoko North East local government humbly appeal to the power that be and our esteemed leaders to come to our aid. As citizens, we believe in the virtues of democracy, transparency, and the power of our collective voice. We refuse to allow our rights and aspirations to be trampled upon by those in positions of power.

“We call upon Ondo State Governor, H.E Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other relevant authorities, including the  National Council of Ministers and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to thoroughly investigate these allegations of manipulation and intimidation. It is essential to ensure a level playing field and protect the integrity of our electoral process.

“We urge our fellow citizens to remain vigilant and stand united against any form of infringement against our rights. Let us reinforce our commitment to democracy by making our voices heard through peaceful means, adhering to the rule of law, and holding our government accountable.

“Together, we can protect and uphold the principles that empower us and secure a brighter future for our community”.
