Elder Statesman Ojo wants criminals flushed out of Ekiti State

An elder statesman and convener of Igogo Ekiti Think Tank – a socio-ultural group, Dr Kolawole Ojo has called on stakeholders to join forces to flush out bad elements, killing and kidnapping innocent citizens in Ekiti State.

This call came in the wake of the gruesome killing of two monarchs in the state and another in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara States recently as well as the kidnap of eleven school children, which have attracted wide condemnation across the globe.

It will be recalled that while people were still mourning the killing of Olumojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola and Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, another traditional ruler, Onikoro of Koro, Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, in nearby Kwara State, was assassinated in his palace few days after while his wife and two others were abducted by the assailants during the incident.

Ojo called on the elders in the state to rejuvenate the age long local security mechanism by awakening the orthodox security network to wade off criminals in the state as done during the historic Ekiti Parapo War era.

According to him, if modern strategies are no longer adequate to protect people in the state, government should collaborate with local defence machineries to ensure a secured environment for the already jolted citizens.

The medical doctor-turned author and social crusader observed that the suspected criminal elements, who have been living for long in the state now hide under their understanding of the terrain to perpetrate evil in the name of cattle herding.

While enjoining the neighbouring states to join hands in chasing marauders out of the area, he called on constituent communities to desist from harbouring suspected criminals in their midst.
