Ondo Politics: Letter to Tinubu is An Exhibition of Ineptitudes – Ex-LG Chairmen fire Back at Reps Members

Ten out of eighteen immediate past Local Government Executive Chairmen in Ondo State have described the letter purportedly written by five members of the House of Representatives to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a fruitless exercise that cannot change the believe and trust of residents of the state in the ability of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to positively transform the socioeconomic and political landscape of the state to el dorado.

The open letter to Tinubu was reportedly signed by five out of eight APC federal lawmakers from Ondo State namely: Hon. Adesida Abiodun Cornelius (Akure North/South), Hon. Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Hon. Festus Adefiranye Ayodele (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Hon. Odimayo Okunjimi (Okitipupa/Irele), and Hon Adegboyega Adefarati (Akoko south West/South East) whom their constituents have described as incompetent and greedy set of federal lawmakers

In a statement jointly signed by the ten wise men and made available to reporters in Akure, the Ondo state capital, the Chairmen urged the lawmakers not to play dirty politics with the death of their messiah who made it possible to get to where they are today.

“Unfortunately, some of the federal lawmakers who are today claiming to be heroes and champions of democracy wickedly turned their back on the former governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN,CON and his family throughout his sickness till he passed away despite of what they have benefited from him.”

The local government Chairmen are Mr Gbenga Olaniyi (Akure South), Mr Akinrinwa Igbekele (Okitipupa), Engr. Alex Oladimeji (Ifedore), Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin (Irele), Mr Adegbegi Samuel Olabode ( Owo), Mrs Folawe Aluko Sipasi ( Ese Odo), Mr Adekunle Adebola Dennis ( Ose), Akande Ayodele (Akoko North West), Aroloye Kayode ( Idanre),
and Olawale Augustine Akinkuotu (Ondo East).

The former council chairmen while calling on President Tinubu to discountenance the letter explained that, the five national assembly members are only afraid of their shadows because of their poor performances in the last nine months and intimidated by the massive support for the Governor, Hon.Aiyedariwa.

“It is on record that the five federal lawmakers in question have been disloyal members of APC as they voted against the interest of the party in the last election for the leadership of National Assembly”.

According to the Chairmen, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is doing his best to make life meaningful for our people in the state. He is one of the few governors in Nigeria not owing civil/public servants salary including N35,000 palliative allowance.  He has also directed all contractors handling major roads projects to go back to sites and flagged off rehabilitation of rural roads across the state .

As they put it, “the state Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Engr. Ade Adetimehin has been in constant discussions with the Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa with a view to resolving the impasse caused by court case instituted by PDP against the 51 LCDA/ LG in the state, by ensuring the matter is settled out of court.

“Things are hard in the country as a result of subsidy removal and floating of the Naira. The lawmakers should focus more on meaningful and productive projects by supporting the President to cushion the effects of these reforms on the masses by releasing trucks of rice and other parliative items in their possession.”

The former council heads added that the information at their disposal indicates that the Deputy Governor, Chief Olayide Adelami gave the late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu political and financial support during the electioneering campaigns, leading to his first and second terms in office and, subsequently rendered the same support all through his tenure as the Governor of the state.

“We urge them to join hands with the Governor to ensure peaceful co-existence in the state and victory for APC in the coming Governorship election” the statement read.
