Akure Methodist Bishop asks Tinubu to address hardship, tackle insecurity

The Bishop, Methodist Church, Akure Diocese, Rt Rev’d Isaac Osunjuyigbe wants President Bola Tinubu to critically look into the current hardship in the country and find a lasting solution to insecurity, inflation and insufficient of food.

Bishop Osunjuyigbe who gave the charge during the 36th synod of the Diocese held in Akure, the Ondo State capital acknowledged President Tinubu’s modest efforts towards securing the future of the nation.

Speaking on the theme of the Synod, “Arise and Build”, Rt Rev’d Osunjuyigbe maintained that the theme was apt at this critical time in Nigeria. He therefore sought for a collective efforts to address the challenges facing the country.

According to him, “As we navigate through these transformative times, let us collectively trust in the resilience of our nation and its people.

“By encouraging one another to embrace change with optimism and acknowledging that God remains in control, we can collectively work towards a brighter future for Nigeria”.

“We are also praying for you, we pray for wisdom from above like that of Solomon for you in Jesus name, Amen”, he said.

The cleric added, “Mr. President, there is no doubt that there is hunger in the land. Nigerians now find it difficult to feed even among the working class.

“I want to implore the government of the federation to put capable hands in the economy so as to resuscitate it. It is hoped that with the array of technocrats appointed by the Tinubu administration, the economy will soon recover and life will become more abundant again for Nigerians”

Rt Rev’d Osunjuyigbe also encouraged Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to be intentional in steering the affairs of the state and ensure a successful conduct of the November 16 governorship election.

Lay President of the Diocese, Folorunsho Esan commended the support of church members towards the success of the event calling on all to join hands with the leadership of Ondo state and the country at large for a new Nigeria.

He said “Mr. President, there is no doubt that there is hunger in the land. Nigerians now find it difficult to feed even among the working class.

“I want to implore the government of the federation to put capable hands in the economy so as to resuscitate it. It is hoped that with the array of technocrats appointed by the Tinubu administration, the economy will soon recover and life will become more abundant again for Nigerians”

He however commended the Ondo state government over the infrastructural development, particularly in the area of road construction, education and healthcare.

He said, ” Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare of the civil servants was also appreciated, with a pledge not to owe any worker a dime, a promise that was visibly fulfilled, earning him praise and admiration.”

Others at the event including the Onilado of Ilado, Oba Kayode Ajomole commended the efforts of the Bishop in holding the Diocese saying, in just two years, two Dioceses were calved out of the Diocese.

Diocese of Akure, which was known as Diocese of Owo gave birth to two new Dioceses in spate of two consecutive years, Diocese of Owo and Diocese of Idanre.

The three day event was attended by representatives from all the branches of the Diocese; Circuits, Sessions and Special Areas.
