Ondo Ministry of Women Affairs, SUBEB and Renewed Hope Initiative give Notebooks to children

As part of the activities to commemorate the 2024 National Children’s Day Celebration in Ondo State, the state government has taken another giant stride in alleviating the suffering of the children in the state.

This came to fore as Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) in conjunction with The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) of the office of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria flagged off the distribution of  notebooks to pupils of Primary schools in the state at St. James’s CAC Mega Primary School, Irowo, Akure.

Speaking at the occasion, the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Deaconess Omolola Fagbemi who represented the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa said the Governor appreciated the kind gesture of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for prioritising educational development of Nigerian children saying, she is a mother in a million. She also extended her appreciation to the children loving governor for creating a space in his heart for the children.

According to Fagbemi, the Renewed Hope Initiative is a flagship programme specially designed to recognise children as subjects of development, realising that education is the spring board to attaining any other facets of development. She emphasized that the provision of this instructional material would go a long way in turning around the fortune of our children.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, Right Hon. Victor Olabimtan eulogized the state Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa for deeming it fit to recruit teachers into both primary and secondary schools in the state. He said this would in no little way improve the quality of education in the rural areas.

According to him, this recruitment is specifically aimed at filling teaching vacancies in the rural areas, as no recruited teacher should lobby to make transfer to urban cities, as any teacher caught in such act would lose his/her job.

In his own comment, the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Laolu Akindolire represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Dairo Obajulaye said a better synergy between states and federal government would reposition basic education in the country. He applauded the synergy between the Renewed Hope Initiative of the office of the First Lady and the state government in ensuring that solid foundation was bequeathed to our children in the state.

He enjoined the pupils to reciprocate government gesture by making judicious use of the notebooks and to also determine to be good future leaders which our nation craves for.
