…..Visits Minister of Women Affairs in Abuja
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye has promised to ensure that women in Ondo State benefit from all programmes of her ministry.
She made the promise while playing host to the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Omolola Fagbemi and the Acting Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Tope Lebile, who paid her a courtesy visit in her office in Abuja.
Kennedy-Ohaneye assured the Commissioner that Ondo State women would henceforth be carried along in women-driven programmes designed to empower and develop Nigerian women.
She particularly mentioned that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development is currently carrying out an empowerment programme for women nationwide where one thousand P.O.S would be distributed to each state to support their businesses.
The Minister further said her ministry would soon commence the distribution of agro processing equipment for women in the country to support women in agriculture saying, Ondo State women would also be considered amongst other goodies which are in the pipeline.
She appreciated the visit of the Commissioner saying that her door is always open for partnership and consultation especially, when it’s about women and children empowerment and development.
Earlier, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Fagbemi said the courtesy visit was to draw the attention and also seek the Minister’s support for her ministry for consideration of Ondo State women in Federal government’s women empowerment programmmes.
Fagbemi thanked her for her passion for women and children development. She particularly applauded her dogged fight against the forced marriage of a hundred girls in one of the northern states of the country saying, her fight could not go unnoticed.
The Commissioner said the minister’s achievements within one year in office is a testament of her passion for women cum children and believed that their welfare would be more attended to in the years ahead.
