Kotila calls for collaboration in skills acquisition

Public spirited individuals have been called upon to synergise with Igogo Ekiti Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre to expand the frontiers of skills development among people living in the community.

The Administrator of the centre, Mrs Omowumi Kotila, who made the call at the graduation ceremony of the newly trained apprentices recently in Igogo Ekiti – headquarters of Ero Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ekiti State, claimed that such initiative would make life more meaningful for the less privileged in the area.

Giving a trajectory of how the centre began in 2019, she expressed optimism that if given adequate support, the centre would impact more positively on those desiring to take a leap further in acquiring modern skills that could lift them out of financial doldrums.

According to her, about 50 apprentices, drawn from Osun, Epe, Iro, Ira and Igogo Ekiti, who are now enjoying improved standard of living in different trades, including manufacturing of liquid detergent and soap, fashion designing and hair dressing , have passed through the centre at no cost.

Paying glowing tribute to the Onigogo of Igogo Ekiti, HRM, Oba (Barr) Olusola Adewumi, JP, for mobilising support for sponsorship among the Igogo Ekiti citizens, she reiterated the need for people of substance to add more value to the community by helping others to make a better living through sponsorship of different aspects of the programme.

Among those she also eulogised for their contribution to the centre include the Chairman of Toptech Group, Chief Mathew Ogunyeye, Chief Executive of Olusola Oni Foundation, Chief Olusola Oni – an Epe Ekiti-born philantropist and the Ekiti State government for creating an enabling environment for the initiative to thrive.
