Aheregbe Festival: Deji of Akure announces closure of markets, shops

The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi has announced the closure of all Markets and Shops in Akure on Tuesday 27th August, 2024 in observance of the annual Aheregbe Festival.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye and made available to newsmen on Monday.

Parts of the statement below:

2. The closure is an integral part of the requirement in observing the age long tradition of the annual Aheregbe Festival.

3. Sequel to this, there shall be no opening of markets, trading or opening of shops under any guise during the festival.

4. Residents, market women and shop owners are kindly enjoined to comply with this directive.

5. However, in view of the importance attached to the health sector, ONLY pharmacy shops are exempted from closure during the festival

6. Notwithstanding, the festival will not in any way restrict both human and vehicular movement.
