My Passion For Children Is Unstoppable…Famuyiwa

“Children may have different ideas of what they hope to become, our responsibility as parents is to encourage them be the best they could be from now”, she said.

The Convener of Creative Godmother Talents and Gifts program, Mrs. Modele Odunaiya Famuyiwa, made this known at a press conference where she addressed the media ahead of her annual charity event aimed at encouraging children to put their talents/skills to use instead of waiting till tomorrow.

There are many subject based competitions for children, but my focus is on engaging children to take vocational skills, co-curricular activities, and their God-given talents seriously.

“I do not want them to wait till tomorrow to start doing what they could do today, ” she said.

This birthed the platform where children between the ages of 8 – 13 are given financial rewards for stepping forward to showcase their skills in hair making, cooking, construction, craft making, drawing as well as colouring. The edutainment program also rewards children for participating in different educative activities.

The overall goal is for children to learn from their peers in a fun environment, and I am particularly glad because my friends and family have been supportive in making this a reality.

In future, it will make me happy to see diverse educative programmes (including reality programmes) that will serve as platforms for children to showcase their skills, win huge rewards such scholarships, sponsorships and endorsements, that will validate their self-esteem, transform their lives and impact on their loved ones/society.

This event will be held at different schools, but this year’s edition will be held on Friday the 25th of October at UMC demonstration school, Molete Ibadan
