Aiyedatiwa committed to all-round development – Information Commissioner, Akinlosotu

Ondo State Government has said that all its approvals and expenditures are deliberately geared towards the development of all sectors of the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Wale Akinlosotu, reiterated the commitment of the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa administration to putting in place all necessary infrastructure and maintenance of existing ones in the interest of the people of the state.

Akinlosotu spoke while responding to an online media report that the state government made approvals for execution of some projects a few weeks to election.

The governor, who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 16 election, is daily getting applause from the people of the state to the disappointment of some leaders of the opposition parties.

The commissioner said, “We ordinarily ought not to respond to that attack because we can see the handiwork of the opposition in the report as it is clear that PDP was speaking from the position of frustration owing to its apparent loss in the forthcoming election, but for the sake of the people of Ondo State who we are accountable to.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the approval by the State Executive Council for remodelling of the Government House gate, perimeter fence, and other renovations recently are part of the efforts of the Aiyedatiwa administration to improve on the infrastructure of the state. It is the responsibility of the government to renovate, beautify, and ensure state infrastructures are in the best condition at all times.

“The approvals and the fact that projects executions are ongoing in all parts of the state the forthcoming election notwithstanding show the commitment of the government not to be distracted by politics and ongoing campaigns.

“In the last 10 months, the Aiyedatiwa administration has worked on and improved all sectors of the economy in the state and as well executed life transforming projects which have made the state an envy among comity of states in Nigeria.

“Ondo State rural communities are better off under the Aiyedatiwa administration with roads springing up, potable water provision, and rural electrification projects. These are a boost to the governor’s bid to ensure food security. The urban areas are getting new lease of life as well.

“The administration is unrelenting in the agricultural sector, boosting food production across the state in addition to the approval of over a billion naira for land clearing.

“The governor has given Midas touch to the health and education sectors which have and still experiencing improvement.

“The Ayedatiwa administration is giving necessary attention to the security of lives and property by giving necessary support to the security agencies and the Amotekun outfit.

“In the same vein, workers, pensioners, youth, and the private sector are better off under Aiyedatiwa with the various policies and programmes implemented to improve their lots,” the commissioner said.
