….As convener, Asogbon predicts greater development in Ondo State
The Convener of the Mebinone Support Group for Aiyedatiwa, Engr. Mebinone Asogbon has expressed optimism that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the just concluded governorship election will usher in more development and good governance for Ondo State.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, Asogbon described Aiyedatiwa’s win as a testament to his track record of effective leadership since assuming office. He emphasized that the governor’s understanding of the challenges faced by the people positions him as a leader capable of addressing their needs, regardless of political affiliations.
“Aiyedatiwa’s victory reflects the overwhelming support from various quarters, including civil society organizations and diverse groups. His loyalty, competence, and dedication to good governance have earned him the trust and love of the people,” Asogbon said.
Asogbon highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s contributions to improving security in the state through consistent support for the Amotekun security outfit. “For those of us in the diaspora, it is reassuring to know we can move around freely whenever we come home,” he added.
He credited Aiyedatiwa’s leadership for the re-award and continuation of abandoned projects across the state, describing him as a “people’s governor” deeply committed to improving the welfare of Ondo State residents.
“I’m not surprised he won. Aiyedatiwa has been performing excellently since stepping into office after the passing of his predecessor, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu. His achievements give me confidence that his administration will bring further development and infrastructure to the state,” Asogbon said.
He further noted that Aiyedatiwa’s loyalty to the late Akeredolu earned him widespread admiration and support, making his eventual emergence as the governor a rare demonstration of trust and unity in governance.
Engr. Asogbon also commended the efforts of the Mebinone Support Group for Aiyedatiwa, which he said worked tirelessly through campaigns and various initiatives to ensure the governor’s victory.
The governor, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Ajayi Agboola of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.
Asogbon called on the people of Ondo State to continue supporting Aiyedatiwa’s administration, pledging that the governor would deliver more dividends of democracy to the populace.
