The lawmaker representing Akure North State Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Kolawole Ologede, has put smiles on the faces of widows and the elderly in his constituency with the distribution of rice, other essential food items and cash to celebrate Christmas and new year.
The gesture is to reduce the impact of the current economic challenges amid skyrocketing prices of food and other commodities.
To prevent crowding which may lead to fatal stampede experienced in some parts of the country, the lawmaker designated teams that delivered the items to beneficiaries in their homes on Friday.
A team was designated at Oba Ile to take care of those in the axis including Eleyowo, Igbatoro, Imafon and others, while another team distributed the food items and cash in Itaogbolu, Iju and other communities in the zone.

Hon. Ologede said the gesture was to assist the beneficiaries in celebrating Christmas happily in the face of the high cost of essential commodities in the market.
The lawmaker pledged commitment to providing quality representation for his constituents and promised continued implementation of programmes and initiatives that would reduce burden on vulnerable groups in the constituency.

“As their representative, it is my responsibility to ensure that their welfare is prioritised. This gesture is to enable them celebrate a joyous Christmas despite the tough economic realities. I will continue to do things that will alleviate their suffering,” he said.

The lawmaker however urged his constituents to celebrate the season with moderation, adding that they should remain vigilant, stay out of trouble and embrace peace during the festive period.
Ologede also used the opportunity to seek support for the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He stressed the need for unity and cooperation to drive development in the state.
The beneficiaries appreciated the lawmaker’s thoughtfulness and described the intervention as timely.
