Owo Anglican Diocese trains Clerics, wardens, PCC, parishioners on church leadership

The Diocese of Owo, Anglican Communion, hosted a high-profile seminar at the Cathedral of St. Andrew Church Imola Owo, focusing on Effective Church Governance and Administration and Growing the Church: The Role of Clergy, Wardens, PCC, and Parishioners.

The event brought together key church leaders, including Cathedral Standing Committee members, Parish Councillors, Wardens, Bishop’s Nominees, and Diocesan Officials.

Presiding over Seminar and the governance session, The Rt. Rev’d Stephen Ayodeji Fagbemi, PhD, the Bishop of Owo Anglican Diocese, emphasized the importance of accountability, financial transparency, and loyalty in church leadership. He reiterated that the Anglican Church is episcopally led and synodically governed, with the Bishop serving as the Chief Administrator of the Diocese.

Bishop Fagbemi urged church leaders to uphold the church’s Constitution and Canons while supporting the Bishop’s vision.

Discussions also covered financial discipline, clergy responsibilities, and the role of wardens in church administration.

In the session on Church Growth: The Role of Clergy, Wardens and Parishioners,  Ven. Dr. Bode Otenaike of Ureje Archdeaconry, Diocese of Ekiti Anglican Communion, called for greater commitment to evangelism and church development.

Ven Otenaike challenged church members to be proactive in spreading the gospel and adding value to church work, stressing that church growth depends on the collective efforts of clergy, wardens, parish councils, and parishioners.

Both sessions reinforced the need for unity, structured administration, and commitment to spiritual and financial integrity.

Bishop Fagbemi   urged members to renew their dedication to God’s work, financial accountability, and the mission of the church, ensuring sustainable growth and a stronger Anglican community.
