Uso Community commiserates with people of Oba-Ile over monarch’s demise

The people of Uso in OWO local government area of Ondo State have condoled with the people of Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government Area on the passing of their monarch, Oba Joseph Agunbiade.


This was contained in statement personally signed by the Oloba, Oba Ademola Olanipekun on behalf of the Community.

The monarch described Oba Agunbiade’s demise as a significant loss not only to Oba-Ile but to the entire Yoruba traditional institution and the Uso people in particular.

“The historical migration of our forefathers from Oba-Ile centuries ago established an unbroken bond of heritage, kinship, and shared identity,” the statement noted, adding that the late monarch symbolised this enduring connection.

Describing Oba Agunbiade as “a monarch of vision, honour and great wisdom,” the Oloba lauded the deceased’s reign, which he said was marked by peace, cultural preservation, and communal development.

“He embodied the dignity of the throne and inspired unity among his people. He was a bridge between generations and a father figure to many across Ondo State and beyond,” the statement read in part.

The Oloba emphasised that the people of Uso feel the loss deeply, given their ancestral ties to Oba-Ile and the pivotal role the late monarch played in sustaining cultural pride.

While mourning the monarch’s transition, the community also celebrated his impactful life of service and leadership. The Oloba prayed for divine comfort for the royal family, the traditional council, and the people of Oba-Ile.

“May the memory of Oba Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade continue to inspire unity, honour, and progress among all sons and daughters of the land,” the statement concluded.
