Aiyedatiwa pledges government support for Deji of Akure’s 10th coronation anniversary

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has assured of full government participation and support for the forthcoming 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.

He made the pledge while receiving in audience members members of the anniversary planning committee, led by Femi Meshe, at the Governor’s Office in Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa described the Deji as a monarch of notable influence and a trusted partner in the collective effort to maintain peace and stability in Akure and across the state.

He stated that the synergy between the traditional institution and the government has been instrumental in sustaining harmony in the capital and beyond.

He commended the planning committee for its dedication, noting that the upcoming coronation anniversary has already begun to attract national and international attention, with dignitaries expected from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

In furtherance of the State Government’s support, the Governor assured that security arrangements would be strengthened ahead of the events.

He also directed the Ministry of Works to begin immediate rehabilitation of the palace entrance and adjoining roads, to improve accessibility and enhance the aesthetics of the area ahead of the celebration.

The planning committee outlined the schedule of activities, which includes a colloquium, empowerment programme, sporting events, music carnival, interdenominational service and the conferment of honorary chieftaincy titles.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Olu Adekunle Ajanaku expressed appreciation to the Governor for his commitment to the development of Akure and his respect for the traditional institution.

He also commended ongoing urban development efforts, including the proposed construction of a flyover along Oba Adesida Road.

The anniversary celebration is scheduled to hold from 16th to 20th July 2025.

Other members of the delegation present included Senior High Chief Sola Adegbonmire, Chief Akin Adinlewa, and Chief (Mrs) Adefunmilayo Adekanye. Also in attendance were the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
