The United States President Donald Trump has issued a strong statement urging Iran’s unconditional surrender, as the fifth consecutive day of hostilities between Iran and Israel unfolds.
The conflict, which has intensified through mutual airstrikes and targeted military actions, has drawn international alarm and prompted evacuations of foreign nationals from Tehran and other major cities.
Trump warned that the time for “strategic patience has ended”, though he ruled out authorising strikes on Iran’s Supreme Leader “at this stage.” The remarks follow the United States’ deployment of additional naval assets to the Persian Gulf to protect commercial shipping routes and support regional allies.
Iranian state media has confirmed damage to critical infrastructure, including the partial destruction of the national broadcasting headquarters and disruptions near nuclear research facilities. Although Tehran has downplayed the scale of the attacks, local residents have begun evacuating to rural areas or attempting to leave the country altogether.
India, Russia, and several European countries have initiated emergency repatriation flights for their citizens. The United Nations Security Council is expected to convene in the coming hours for a closed-door session.
Analysts warn that the conflict has the potential to spill over into neighbouring states, further destabilising an already volatile region. Global leaders have called for an immediate ceasefire and the resumption of indirect talks in Vienna.
