Two lecturers in the Department of Mass Communication, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Solomon Okioya and Gabriel Afolayan have successfully defended their doctoral theses.
Okioya earned his PhD from Adeleke University, Ede in Osun State while Afolayan completed his doctoral studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The successful defence took place on Thursday 19th of June, 2025.
In a statement to celebrate the two scholars, the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication Studies, Dr Raman Abubakri described the achievement as a significant milestone worthy of celebration.
According to him, “This is a time to celebrate our colleagues. Their success is a testament to hard work, commitment and academic excellence”.
He urged colleagues and the academic community to henceforth address both individuals with their appropriate academic titles.
Dr Abubakri added that the two scholars have been instrumental to the growth of the department of institution’s Department of Mass Communication and contributed to both academic and research advancement.
