The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Goodluck Iheanachor.
The incident, which occurred on 20th June 2025 at approximately 1:40 p.m., has been described by authorities as a coordinated assault involving multiple actors.
According to the Police Command, a group of about thirty individuals stormed the council secretariat in Ahoada East, allegedly led by the Chief Security Officer and the Chief of Staff to the Administrator.
During the incident, the assailants reportedly assaulted the LG boss, stole his mobile devices, and forcefully obtained his signature on a resignation letter. Several official and personal documents were also taken from his office.
Following the attack, Iheanachor was rushed to hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care for injuries sustained. He is said to be in a stable condition.
The Command has launched an investigation into the incident, describing the act as a serious criminal offence involving conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, and theft.
Authorities have already commenced efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the attack.
The Commissioner of Police has stressed that the Command will pursue justice and hold all perpetrators accountable. Non-compliance with police invitations by any suspects involved will attract strict legal consequences.
The Command urged residents of Rivers State to remain law-abiding and report any information that could assist the investigation.
