Ondo Government, Chinese firm explore area of partnership for environmental sustainability

The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has restated its unwavering commitment to achieving a clean, safe, and sustainable environment for its citizens, in alignment with its EASE Agenda. The administration affirms that a healthy society is only attainable in an atmosphere that is disease-free and environmentally secure.

This vision was reiterated by the Commissioner for Environment, Dr Tob Loko, during a courtesy visit by the Country Representative of Mutual Commitment Company Limited, a leading environmental solutions firm based in China. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Akure, explored opportunities for collaboration between the company and the state government.

Dr Loko emphasised that addressing environmental challenges requires a multisectoral approach and welcomed the interest of credible private sector partners in supporting the state’s developmental priorities. “The Aiyedatiwa-led government is open to meaningful partnerships that will support our agenda for environmental sustainability. If your company is truly committed to service excellence, we are ready to collaborate,” the Commissioner noted.

He further called on other international and indigenous firms to identify with the state’s environmental vision, stating that Ondo State is well-positioned for transformative progress in the sector.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Colins Yin, Country Representative of Mutual Commitment Company Limited, outlined the areas in which the company is capable of supporting the state. These include flood control, access to potable water, soil degradation management, erosion control, shoreline protection, construction of embankments, and development of modern drainage systems and water channels.

Mr Yin assured the Commissioner of the company’s expertise and readiness to deliver impactful environmental solutions if engaged.

The visit represents a positive step toward forging a strategic partnership that could significantly enhance the environmental profile of Ondo State.
