3 Amotekun officers injured in gun battle with suspected Kidnappers in Ondo

Three operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have sustained injuries during a fierce gun battle with suspected kidnappers in the state.

The confrontation occurred as the Amotekun team trailed the armed group believed to be responsible for the abduction of seven farmers in the Itaogbolu area of Akure North Local Government.

The suspected kidnappers reportedly opened fire on the operatives upon realising they were being tracked.

Although no fatalities were recorded, three Amotekun officers sustained varying degrees of injuries and have since been hospitalised.

The incident is linked to the recent abduction of seven farmers who were seized while harvesting palm fruits on their farms.

The kidnappers are said to have contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of ₦100 million.

In response, Amotekun Corps has intensified efforts to rescue the abducted farmers, with operatives reportedly stationed within the forests where the victims are believed to be held.

The security agency reaffirmed its commitment to securing the victims’ safe release and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
