Amole Festival: No trading or opening of markets in Akure on Friday – Deji

Markets, shops and stalls in Akure, Ondo State, will be closed on Friday, 29 August 2025, in observance of the annual Amole Festival.

The directive was issued by the Palace of the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom in a statement by the Monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye.

The closure is part of the traditional rites associated with the age-long festival, the statement said.

The Palace noted that there would be no trading or opening of shops during the period, urging residents, market women, and business owners to comply strictly with the directive.

However, the statement clarified that pharmacy shops and patent medicine stores are exempted from the closure, while human and vehicular movement will not be restricted.

The Amole Festival remains a significant cultural event for the people of Akure, with the Palace appealing for the cooperation of residents to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration.
