Ondo Devt: Aiyedatiwa assures residents of more road projects, industrialisation

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured residents that his administration will prioritise road construction, complete all ongoing projects.

He also pledged to attract major industries as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s economy and improve livelihoods.

The governor gave the assurance on Friday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, where he also tasked party members with intensifying grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.

Aiyedatiwa explained that his government had signed agreements to establish a cement factory, a fertiliser plant and a petrochemical industry in Ondo State, describing the projects as vital to job creation and long-term economic growth.

He further disclosed plans to intervene in some federal road networks across the state to ease the burden of poor connectivity on residents, listing the Ikare-Akoko, Idanre-Akure and Okitipupa-Igbokoda corridors as priority routes.

He said all ongoing infrastructural projects, including those he inherited, will be completed.

The governor added that his government will take responsibility for critical roads to improve accessibility and stimulate commerce.

The APC Chairman in Ondo State, Engr Ade Adetimehin, commended Aiyedatiwa for sustaining regular engagement with party leaders, stressing that unity at the grassroots remained crucial for the party’s dominance.

Also speaking, Hon Victor Olabimtan, Chairman of SUBEB, and Hon Ifedayo Abegunde of the NDDC, praised the governor’s developmental efforts, noting that his projects were already visible across the 18 local government areas.

The stakeholders’ meeting, which was attended by top political leaders including the Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami; former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo; and Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, centred on consolidating the APC’s strength ahead of 2027 and mobilising at least 1,000 new members per ward under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
