By Sola Obagbemisoye
Worried by the wave of kidnapping and incessant killing of innocent people in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, a group, Ondo State Flagship Group (OSFG) Akure North LG chapter met at Oba-Ile to faction way out on how to cub the security challenges facing the area.
It was a tale of woes by members of the group who came from all the 12 wards of the council as they gave graphic details how bandits have displaced many farmers at Itaogbolu, Iju and Familugba. It was the same ugly narrative at Ogbese where about 10 kidnappers stormed the ever busy commercial village, allegedly shot a man dead and abducted a market woman in a broad day light.
Equally, bandits suspected to be herdsmen have terrorized and reportedly killed about ten farmers at Familugba while a woman who was whisked away with her baby by the terrorists are yet to be found.
The group therefore thanked the state government for it prompt actions by establishing a security post at Familugba, provided them with patrol vehicle and other security logistics to stem the tide of insecurity at the camp.
They at this point appealed for more security presence at Ogbese and regular patrol of Itaogbolu/Iju/Ikere road to nip the violent crime in the bud.
As a further security measure, OSFG particularly called on individuals, religious and especially community leaders to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their domains to the security agents as reports have shown that these bandits are working with informants within their communities.
Welcoming members, the state leader of the group, Otunba Omoniyi Omodara harped on the need to remain united and loyal to both state and federal governments to maintain the political dignity and honor Akure North LGA is known for.
The former Commissioner charged those in attendance to go back to their various wards and units to educate electorate on the need to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on their efforts to develop the state and the people.
According to him, “election is coming, many maverick politicians will come to you with lies, please don’t believe them, remain united, cross-check your facts and when you are doubt, call your leaders saying, APC remains the only party to beat in the coming elections”.
The Chairman of the group in Akure North LGA, Chief Adebayo Isijola while testifying to the outstanding qualities and exemplary characters of Otunba Omodara pledged the support of others as they match towards 2027.
They individually and collectively promised to go back their wards to galvanize and sensitize others towards the coming elections.
