Sheikh Aladesawe’s life was a model of dedication to faith and service to humanity – Owo Anglican Diocese

The Diocese of Owo, Anglican Communion, is mourning the passing of Sheikh Ahmad Olagoke Aladesawe, the Chief Imam of Owo Kingdom and Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo and Edo States.

The Chief Imam, who until his death at the age of 91 was a respected Islamic scholar, was described as a unifying figure who worked tirelessly to promote peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony within Owo and beyond.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Public Information Officer of the Diocese, Omoba Adesoye Ajayi, the Bishop of Owo Diocese, the Rt. Rev’d Stephen Fagbemi, said Sheikh Aladesawe’s life was a model of dedication to faith, moral guidance, and service to humanity.

The Anglican Diocese praised the late cleric’s remarkable efforts in building bridges of understanding between Christians and Muslims in Owo and across neighbouring communities.

His calm disposition and leadership style, the statement noted, created an atmosphere of unity and stability that has benefited the town and Ondo State at large.

According to the statement, the Bishop and the entire Anglican family in Owo Diocese join the Muslim Ummah and the people of Owo Kingdom in mourning this great loss. While his departure leaves a vacuum in the religious and cultural fabric of our society, we remain grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

The Diocese also prayed God to grant the late Chief Imam eternal rest, strengthen his family and comfort the Muslim community in Ondo and Edo States.
