World Cleanup Day: Akinrinlola Olokunboro Foundation takes sanitation to Ado Motor Park, Ugele Community

More communities in Akure have continued to benefit from the Akinrinlola Olokunboro Foundation’s environmental sanitation, an initiative designed not only to promote hygienic living but to also complement government efforts to achieve a cleaner society.

Volunteers of the Foundation were on Monday at the Ado Motor Park and UGELE Community where they cleared refuse, sensitized the community on proper waste management and reinforce the importance of environmental cleanliness as a collective duty.

The exercise which was in commemoration of the World Cleanup Day was in furtherance of the Foundation’s drive for a cleaner Akure and Ondo State through its ‘Weekly Clean City Project ‘.

In addition to the cleanup, the Foundation  created awareness among residents on the ongoing mosquito net distribution by the Ondo State Government.

Members of the public expressed sincere appreciation for the outreach. They noted that the awareness will help them abide by  safety precautions on the correct use of the nets to protect against malaria.

Speaking during the programme, the General Deputy of the Ado Motor Park, Tijani Olanrewaju Ganiyu popularly known as ‘Banuso’, commended the Foundation’s founder and volunteers for coming down to the park to clean the environment and the road linking to Ugele.

According to him, “Whosoever does a small favour is capable of doing more favour.” He prayed that God continues to strengthen all participants and help them in all their endeavours”.

Another driver in the park who simply identified himself as Mr. Femi, also appreciated the presence of the Foundation, noting that the cleaning has made the park look far better than before, while encouraging the team to sustain the initiative.

The engagements speak volume of the Foundation’s mission of blending environmental care, health advocacy and community development for the betterment of Akure and its environs.
