Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo East Local Government Area have called for the implementation of a rotational arrangement for the House of Representatives seat in the Ondo East and West Federal Constituency.
In a communique issued after a stakeholders meeting held in Bolodunron the headquarters of the Local government the APC leadership and stakeholders demanded a rotational arrangement for the Member House of Representatives (MHR) position in the Ondo East/West Federal Constituency beginning with Ondo East in the 2027 general election.
According to them the move is long overdue and necessary to correct historical imbalances in representation.
The meeting which brought together a broad coalition of political stakeholders including women and youth leaders, ward chairmen, councillors, and past and present local government officials was presided over by the APC Ondo East Party Chairman, Hon. Olamigoke Busayo.
Citing political imbalance and what they described as “historical marginalization”, the leaders noted that Ondo West has held the federal constituency seat for 24 unbroken years since 2003 after the tenure of late Hon. Oladejo Akinnifesi from Ondo East, who served between 1999 and 2003.
They argue that this dominance by Ondo West has left Ondo East without fair representation in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly a situation they say contradicts the inclusive principles of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s Our Ease Agenda.
The Leaders therefore appealed to President Tinubu, Governor Aiyedatiwa, and the leaderships of APC both at national and state level to support their call for fairness, equity, and justice by ensuring that Ondo East produces the next Member of the House of Representatives in 2027.
The meeting concluded with a firm resolution to pursue the rotational agenda as a pathway to political balance and sustained party unity in the constituency.
