Akure Secondary Commercial School Old Students inaugurate Akure branch excos

The Akure Branch of the Old Students Association of Akure Secondary Commercial School has been formally inaugurated, with new executive members elected to steer the affairs of the branch.

The officers are Pastor Oladele Omolafe – Chairman; Surveyor Kehinde Obateteru – First Vice Chairman; Mary Ojogbeje – Second Vice Chairman and Oba Morayo Omolade – Secretary General.

Others are Kehinde Egunjobi – Assistant Secretary; Titilayo Agunloye – Treasurer; Ambassador Bukola Oluwabusola – Public Relations Officer; Ogunmola Ogunleye – Welfare Secretary and Ayodeji Salami – Auditor.

They emerged through consensus arrangement.

President of the association, Prince Adebisi Adeniyi, who led other national officers to preside over the event, said the new officers were carefully chosen based on their dedication and commitment to the association, particularly their selfless contributions during the 60th anniversary celebration.

He however explained that, notwithstanding the consensus arrangement, members who wished to contest any of the positions were free to do so, stressing that the association remains democratic and inclusive. The nominees were however unanimously accepted by members and consequently pronounced elected.

Adeniyi explained that the decision to form branches was taken after the anniversary  to further bring old students of the school together and mobilise support for the growth of their alma mater.

While congratulating the new executives, he urged them to prioritise the construction of the alumni building, describing it as a legacy project that must receive urgent attention.

He added that a bank account had been opened in the association’s name and the account of the 60th anniversary had been duly audited.

Accepting the mandate, the new branch chairman, Pastor Oladele Omolafe, appreciated members for the confidence reposed in the new executives and pledged their commitment to work hard to deliver tangible results during their tenure.

He appealed for the cooperation and support of members to strengthen the association.

Goodwill messages centred on the need for unity, cooperation among members as well as regular meetings to advance the goals of the association.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the financial report of the 60th anniversary to the new chairman.
