Leaked Memo: Measures in place to prevent terror attack – Ondo Govt assures residents

The Ondo State Government has assured residents that strong measures are being taking to prevent terrorist attack in any part of the state.

Government stated this while reacting to the leaked security memo suggesting a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state. The memo which was reportedly issued by the Department of State Services (DSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Akure, was said to have raised concerns about a potential security threat in some communities.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku on Wednesday confirmed that the government was aware of the document, but said such intelligence memos are standard operational tools aimed at identifying and preventing threats before they materialise.

“These reports are used in joint operations by security agencies to enhance vigilance and take proactive measures,” Ajanaku said.

He assured residents that the intelligence contained in the leaked memo was already being acted upon by relevant security agencies and the state government, noting that precautionary steps had been taken to ensure the safety of all residents.

“The public can be assured that every necessary measure is being taken to guarantee the safety and security of citizens. The emphasis remains on maintaining vigilance and cooperation among all security agencies,” he stated.

The government urged residents to remain calm and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest security formation rather than panic or spread unverified information.

“The Ondo State government, led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is in constant contact with all security agencies and is taking several steps to protect residents, especially those in border communities,” Ajanaku added.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to sustaining Ondo State’s reputation as one of the safest in the country and appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement officers and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
