Afo-Idoani road captured in the 2026 budget – Ajanaku

….says committee in place to identify needs of Irekari zone

The Ondo State government has captured the Afo-Idoani road in the 2026 budget while the upward review of Ikun-Afo road has also been approved.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku disclosed this while receiving in audience members of Ose Students’ Association of Nigeria on a courtesy visit to his office in Akure. 

The students were in his office to seek partnership with the ministry for their upcoming Education Summit.

The commissioner commended their passion for the growth of Ose Local Government and acknowledged the infrastructural challenges facing the area. He noted that improving the condition of the local government has been a key priority for him since his assumption of office.

Ajanaku told his guests that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa remains committed to even development across the state, revealing that the upward review of the Ikun–Afo Road project has been approved, with contractors expected to deliver quality work soon. He further disclosed that the Afo–Idoani Road has been captured in the 2026 budget, underscoring government’s renewed focus on the region.

He added that a government committee has been established to identify urgent developmental needs in Irekari for swift intervention. While stressing that he cannot achieve the desired progress alone, Ajanaku called for collective support from stakeholders to accelerate development in Ose.

The Commissioner thanked the students for their boldness and sincerity pledged both financial and moral support for the proposed Education Summit and Spelling Bee.

President of the Association, Ajibua Emmanuel, commended the Commissioner for granting them audience, describing him as an accessible leader who remains connected to all and sundry. He lauded the state government for appointing “a worthy son of the soil” to the position at a critical time in the state’s development.

He explained that the Education Summit and Spelling Bee for secondary school students in Ose Local Government is to contribute meaningfully to the state’s educational advancement in Irekari. He appealed for partnership and support from the Ministry and the Commissioner personally to ensure the success of the programme.

Also speaking, the Senate President of the association, Obasanya Monday, praised the Commissioner for the “remarkable improvement in the state’s media architecture” since assuming office. He said government information dissemination has become more coherent and engaging, reflecting the Commissioner’s professional track record, especially from his years of service in Lagos State.

Other members of the delegation pledged their readiness to support the Commissioner and help promote the achievements of the present administration as a student body rooted in the local government.
