TELL Magazine names AAUA’s Professor Ige among 20 best Vice Chancellors in Nigeria

The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has been named among the 20 best performing vice chancellors in Nigeria by TELL Communications Limited.

The recognition was published in a special edition of TELL Magazine themed “Integrity in Leadership: 20 Best Performing Vice Chancellors in Nigeria”, which circulated between December 29, 2025 and January 5, 2026.

The publication highlights exemplary leadership and sound governance within Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

According to the magazine, the selection celebrates vice chancellors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the day-to-day administration and strategic direction of their institutions.

Prof. Ige’s inclusion was attributed to his visionary leadership, strong administrative capacity and commitment to academic excellence since assuming office as Vice Chancellor of AAUA.

TELL Magazine noted that the honour reflects integrity-driven governance, innovative management practices and a sustained focus on institutional growth, qualities that have strengthened the university’s profile at both national and international levels.

The management of Adekunle Ajasin University described the recognition as a collective achievement, noting that it reflects the progress and positive academic culture established under Prof. Ige’s leadership.

In a statement by the Deputy Registar, Information, Protocols and Public Relations Unit, Victor Akinpelumi, the university community stated that the accolade reinforces AAUA’s standing as a centre of excellence anchored on ethical leadership and institutional development.

Beyond his current role, Prof. Ige has held several leadership positions within the education sector and has received multiple honours in recognition of his contributions to academia and public service.

He was previously named Ondo State Pillar of Education by Hero Magazine in 2020 and recognised as a Role Model in Ondo State by Sunshine Standard Magazine in 2021.
