Operation Fansan Yamma sustains offensive against terrorists in North West

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, the Joint Task Force in the North West, have sustained coordinated offensive operations against terrorist elements across the region, recording notable successes between 21 and 22 January 2026.

Military sources disclosed that troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by intelligence assets, engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol at Gundumi Village in Isa Local Government Area.

One terrorist was killed during the encounter, while others reportedly fled into surrounding forests with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from the operation included six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles, which were taken into military custody.

In a related operation, troops of 1 Brigade, working with the Joint Task Force Mobile Strike Team, acted on credible intelligence indicating that injured terrorists were receiving treatment at a forest location in Bingi Forest.

The troops located and destroyed a makeshift medical facility used by the group, disrupting its support network.

Military authorities said the operations form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics, deny them freedom of movement, and restore security across the North West.

The sustained offensives, according to security officials, underscore the military’s resolve to weaken terrorist networks and improve safety in affected communities.
