Aiyedatiwa hosts Ondo Reps members, calls for collective responsibility in state development

The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on federal lawmakers from the state to embrace the development, peace and stability of Ondo as a shared responsibility, stressing that progress can only be sustained through unity and collaboration.

The governor made the call while hosting all nine members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State to a dinner at the Government House, Akure.

The lawmakers present were Abiodun Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East), Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo) and Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).

Discussions at the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the federal and state governments, promoting unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, and aligning development priorities ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said his administration would continue to place the welfare of the people and the development of the state above partisan interests, describing the engagement with the lawmakers as a significant step towards sustaining stability and growth.

He noted that effective synergy between elected representatives at different levels of government was essential for Ondo State to maximise opportunities under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in attracting and executing federal projects.

The governor also briefed the lawmakers on activities lined up to mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State, expressing satisfaction over what he described as unprecedented political unity, with all members of the National Assembly and the State House of Assembly now belonging to the APC.

In their responses, the lawmakers commended the governor for his developmental efforts across the state and pledged their loyalty and support. They promised to work collectively to promote peace, stability and development while contributing to the growth of the APC in Ondo State.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ololade Gbegudu; National Vice Chairman of the APC, Isaac Kekemeke; Commissioner for Finance, Omowunmi Isaac; Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, Babatunde Kolawole; and APC chieftain, Ademola Adegoroye.
