A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, Olatunbosun Alade, has petitioned the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, over what he described as the unjust denial of his appointment as a supervisory councillor.
Alade said he has remained committed to the APC since since the era of Alliance for Democracy (AD) and he has been consistently working at the grassroots to mobilise support and strengthen party structure in his ward.
According to him, his sustained contributions to the growth of the APC in Ifedore Local Government, particularly at the ward level, inspired the decision of all APC unit heads and the majority of ward 4 executives to formally endorse him for the position of supervisory councillor.
In the endorsement letter signed by all the unit heads and the majority of ward executives, and addressed to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, the Secretary to the State Government and other key stakeholders, the party leaders stated that Alade had been actively involved in party activities since the inception of the APC.
The executives added that Olatunbosun Alade had never dissociated himself from the party, describing his loyalty and commitment as consistent and verifiable within the local government.
Despite the endorsements, Alade alleged that the recommendation was ignored, as the appointment was eventually given to another individual who, according to him, did not merit the position in the ward.
Alade who expressed deep disappointment over the situation said he felt shortchanged despite his long-standing loyalty and dedication to the APC.
He said the development has generated dissatisfaction among party faithful and loyalists in the ward, many of whom he said feel marginalised despite their sacrifices and contributions to the APC.
According to him, continued disregard for merit and loyalty in the distribution of appointments could weaken internal cohesion and discourage committed members from active participation in party affairs.
He therefore called on the national leadership of the party to intervene and ensure that appointments are guided by fairness, inclusiveness and proven service to the party.
