Tinubu sympathises with Kano traders, orders probe into Singer Market fire

President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with traders and residents of Kano State following the devastating fire outbreak at Singer Market over the weekend.

The fire, which reportedly began on Saturday evening, raged into Sunday morning and caused extensive damage to the popular food market and destroyed goods and property.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incident as tragic.

President Tinubu had earlier contacted the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to obtain a situation report on the incident.

He was said to be particularly concerned that the latest fire occurred less than two weeks after another blaze destroyed dozens of shops and property at the same market.

The President has directed a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the recurring fires, noting the severe impact such incidents have on traders and their livelihoods.
